Setting: A Jewish Synagogue in the city of Capernaum

The Gospel of Mark gives us the account of when the Lord Jesus Christ visited a synagogue in Capernaum and teaching the people his doctrine. His impact was so profound that Mark writes, “and they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.” Within this synagogue was a man who was very upset with him, to say the least.
